The birds come first. Always.

Our approach · 3 min read

Stock bird photography illustrating this field note

A beautiful photograph should never cost a bird its safety or space. Our approach begins with a simple idea: we are visitors.

Give the subject a choice.

Keep a respectful distance and watch behaviour as carefully as composition. If a bird changes what it is doing because of your presence, move back. Avoid blocking its route, surrounding it with the group, or moving closer just to fill the frame.

Leave nesting areas quiet.

Do not approach nests or disclose sensitive locations. Follow local access rules and your guide’s instructions. Avoid playback, baiting, or any attempt to force an encounter. Natural behaviour is the subject we came to see.

Take home the photograph, leave the place.

Stay on appropriate paths, take your litter with you, and leave vegetation and habitat undisturbed. There is no frame worth leaving a place worse than you found it.
